Shipping Skis

The key to shipping cross country skis in the United States is to keep the length of the package plus the circumference of the package to a dimension 108" or less. Below are the details.

Step 1: Remove bindings for shipping. You may need a #3 phillips tip for some binding screws.

Step 2: Prepare skis for nesting together. Insert a piece of card board or other material on top of the heel plate to prevent scarring of the top ski.

Step 3: Wrap skis together with shrink wrap after installing a thin layer of cushion material between the skis.

Step 4: Use the appropriate size box (I use Uline's 48-90", 6" x 6" box)

Step 5: Cut one corner of the square box and tuck the 4th side into the box to make a triangular box. Slip the skis into the box with the points of the skis at the top of the triangle. Use appropriate amounts of bubble wrap or paper to cushion the skis.

Step 6: Shipping.
Keep the length of the box plus the circumference to a dimension 108" or less.

Loose bindings can be slipped into the box at either end.

A 215cm ski box should be about 85" long with a triangular circumference of about 20" for a total dimension of 105". 220cm skis should also be able to be shipped using the 108" dimensions.

USPS seems to work best for cheap pricing.
